Member for Gembrook Brad Battin has congratulated Casey Little Athletics on the end of a successful Track & Field season.
The Championship Day on Saturday 10 March saw athletes aged 5-16 years old compete in a range of events and awarded medals and ribbons for their efforts.
Mr Battin presented medals to the athletes along with City of Casey Councilor Judy Owen and former Casey Little Athlete Jordan Nelson, who has competed for the last three years in the World Cross Country Championships and in the recent Qantas Melbourne Track Classic in the 3000 metre Steeplechase.
“It is fantastic to see so many young people participating in sport,” Mr Battin said.
“We hear a lot about weight issues and not enough about great organisations like Casey Little Athletics, which give kids the opportunity to get active, make friends and achieve personal goals.
“I would like to thank Peter Hughes and the team on putting together an exciting and challenging program for local you.”
Casey Little Athletics will have 57 little athletes representing Casey at the State Little Athletics Championships in Bendigo this month.
While the Track and Field season is finishing, Cross Country starts on 14 April. New athletes are welcome. Events start at 9am, with warm-up at 8.45am, at Edwin Flack Reserve, Manuka Road Berwick. For more information about Casey Little Athletics, phone 0458 284 154.
