Liberals to deliver for Officer sport and recreation
An elected Liberal Government will contribute $380,000 for the design and construction of a new joint use community function room at Officer Recreation Reserve.
The Officer Recreation Reserve has been the community heart of Officer for many years, currently housing 6 sporting clubs.
With the rapid growth in population, an elected Liberal Government will ensure community infrastructure meets the needs of the community.
This new facility will allow for the sporting clubs to expand with the increasing demands for memberships and create a sporting and community hub for the changing suburb.
It is a shame the Andrews Labor Government have failed to contribute one cent to the project since coming into government despite giving $300 million to the AFL and Etihad stadium.
Only the Liberal Nationals will deliver community sporting infrastructure for Officer.
Comments attributable to Member for Gembrook, Brad Battin:
“Local sport is the heart our community. This new facility will be vital in bringing the growing community of Officer together.
“The Officer Recreation Reserve Committee has been working hard on behalf of the growing clubs to secure the future of local sports in Officer.
“Only a Liberal Government will ensure Officer’s local infrastructure expands with the growing community.”
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“Brad Battin has been doing extensive work in the local community to support the growth at Officer Recreation Reserve and has advocated strongly for this funding.
“The Reserve has made a huge contribution to local sport and it’s only fair that they receive the support they deserve.
“The Liberal Nationals will always put grass roots sport first, unlike the Labor Party which has spent two thirds of its sport budget on the AFL and elite sport.”
