Labor has lost control of community safety
Daniel Andrews is continuing his attack on all fire services, this time by blocking fire equipment inspectors from being able to carry out checks, instead mandating plumbers undertake routine maintenance inspections.
An elected Liberal Nationals government will ensure the fire inspection industry is protected, by continuing to allow qualified inspectors to test and carrying out routine maintenance on fire safety equipment in our hospitals, schools and commercial buildings.
Daniel Andrews has lost control of cost of living and is instead placing added pressure to hospitals and schools’ already stretched budgets.
On November 18, when Daniel Andrews’ policy comes into effect, 2000 workers will not be able to legally do their job of ensuring your safety.
A Liberal Nationals Government will get back in control of cost of living by restoring the previous position of allowing fire systems to be checked by suitably qualified inspectors. Any change to the future regulation will only be supported after a review to plumbing regulations with community safety as a priority.
Daniel Andrews has clearly lost control of the industry and our community’s safety. He made these recommendations without community and industry consultation.
A Liberal Nationals Government understands the consequences of this amendment and respects the vital work these inspectors do. The Liberal Nationals will get control back to the industry so they can carry out these vital safety checks.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:
“Daniel Andrews has literally forced 2000 Victorians out of work and put our community’s safety at risk.
The Liberal Nationals will get control back to the industry so they can continue to carry out these vital safety checks.”
