Liberal Nationals delivering for Diggers Rest CFA
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will ensure volunteers receive a long awaited Light Tanker to replace their existing tanker.
The $210,000 commitment with provide the much need equipment upgrade so volunteers can continue to serve their community.
The Diggers Rest CFA has served the communities of Diggers Rest and Sunbury since 1969 and has fundraised extensively over the years to maintain their equipment and facilities.
The townships of Sunbury and Diggers Rest are changing, with more houses, narrower streets and more people. This tanker is small enough to fit down suburban streets and can be easily manoeuvred.
Unfortunately, despite the hard work and fundraising efforts of the Diggers Rest CFA community, local member Josh Bull and Labor have overlooked the station time and time again.
CFA volunteers give their all to their communities, often leaving their families and friends at all hours to help protect our communities, often in dangerous and trying circumstances.
They deserve to have the best facilities available to do this vital work.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:
“Volunteers selflessly give their time to serve their community – they deserve the best possible equipment and the respect of their State Government.
A Matthew Guy led Liberal Nationals Government will deliver a new light tanker to Sunbury CFA, enshrine the rights of volunteers in legislation, and deliver a Royal Commission in to the state’s fire services.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Sunbury, Cassandra Marr:
“It is vital that the Diggers Rest CFA has the resources it needs to fight fires and protect our local communities when we need help the most and this new pumper tanker will provide that.
I fully support our volunteer fire fighters in their efforts to keep our community safe. Unlike the Andrews Government we will provide them with the necessary resources to do so.”
