Wonthaggi Surf Lifesaving Club
The Liberal Nationals understand the vital contribution surf lifesaving clubs make across Victoria.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals government will invest $2 million towards a long overdue refurbishment at the Wonthaggi Surf Life Saving Club and Bass Coast Shire’s planned Cape Paterson Bay Beach Master Plan.
The Liberal Nationals have committed to upgrading and redeveloping surf lifesaving clubs across Victoria’s coastal towns and suburbs to ensure surf lifesaving volunteers have the appropriate facilities to carry out their great work.
This commitment builds on the Liberal Nationals previous commitment to purchase 15 state-of-the-art lifesaving drones, which will assist lifesavers to identify a swimmer or surfer at risk and dispense a buoy for them to hold onto until help arrives.
As Melbourne’s population grows it puts enormous strain on our emergency services especially during summer months.
Daniel Andrews has lost control of this growth and failed to invest in facilities and infrastructure for volunteers to keep up with demand including Surf Life Saving clubs and CFA and SES stations.
Only the Liberal Nationals support those who protect us.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:
“While Daniel Andrews has been at war with the CFA, surf lifesaving clubs have been left in a state of disrepair.
Brian has been working hard with the local community and the Wonthaggi Surf Lifesaving Club to secure this vital funding.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Member for Bass, Brian Paynter:
“Wonthaggi Surf Lifesaving is plays in vital role in keeping beach goers safe, especially in summer months.
Today’s announcement gives certainty to the Club and will ensure its ongoing viability for generations to come.”
