Wonthaggi Life Saving Club volunteers left to fend for themselves
Daniel Andrews must act to assist the Wonthaggi Life Saving Club who have been sent a letter demanding that action be taken at their condemned club house, under threat of a fine of over $80 000.
After the Wonthaggi Life Saving club house was severely damaged by a storm earlier this month, and being left uninhabitable, the club is now being sent legal letters demanding they pay for fencing around the damaged building.
The building damage has also left the Wonthaggi Life Saving Club unable to protect their local community.
Volunteers called for urgent funding last year to protect their much loved club, and only the Liberals committed $2 million to rebuild the club house.
Daniel Andrews and his Minister still refuse to visit or match that funding.
Local Member for Bass, Jordan Crugnale, had previously said that she and the Andrews Labor Government would assist the club in their time of need.
That time is now and while volunteers are using their precious time to raise money for the fence, Daniel Andrews is refusing to confirm that there is money in the upcoming State Budget for the club.
Daniel Andrews and his Labor Government must immediately match the Liberal Nationals’ $2 million 2018 election commitment to ensure local volunteer lifesavers have a club to protect their community next summer.
