Labor and Upper House crossbench vote to tear apart the CFA

Today in the Upper House of the Victorian Parliament Labor MPs and crossbenchers have voted to destroy the CFA as we know it.

Labor MPs, Greens MP Samantha Ratnam and crossbenchers Andy Meddick, Catherine Cumming and Fiona Patten have all today voted against splitting the presumptive cancer rights legislation for firefighters from Labor’s destructive CFA legislation, and for the 2nd reading of the CFA Bill.

Splitting the presumptive cancer rights legislation from the CFA Bill would have ensured that this important reform could become law now, to provide this protection for those who risk their lives for others.

There is now just one more chance for Upper House to choose to protect the CFA, not destroy it.

The crossbench must listen to our community, to our dedicated CFA volunteers, and not sell them out like Daniel Andrews and his Labor mates.
