Buses will replace trains between Pakenham and Oakleigh and Clyde Road will be closed on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 April as VicTrack improves the railway tracks as part of the $55.6 million Clyde Road upgrade.
Both the rail line and Clyde Road (between Enterprise Avenue and Jane Street) will be closed from 12am Saturday 14 April to 8pm Sunday 15 April.
Member for Gembrook Brad Battin said a free shuttle bus would be operating to ensure easy access to Berwick Village.
“VicRoads is making every effort to ensure the Clyde Road upgrade has a minimal impact on traders in Berwick Village.
“The shuttle bus will operate on the Saturday from 8.30am to 5.30pm, operating in a loop around Berwick Railway Station, Reserve Street, Gloucester Avenue, High Street and Berwick Market Place.”
Detours will be in place for motorists via the Princes Highway and Princes Freeway.
Bus services will replace rail services on the Pakenham line. For service alterations visitwww.metlinkmelbourne.com.au
Clyde Road is being upgraded to a dual carriageway from High Street to Kangan Drive. Works also include the remodelling and signalisation at intersections, pedestrian phases, and bicycle facilities in both directions.
The Clyde Road upgrade, jointly funded by the State and Federal Governments, is expected to be completed in late 2013.
