Safety improvements at an Upper Beaconsfield intersection have been completed ahead of schedule.
Work on the Beaconsfield-Emerald Road, Salisbury Road and St Georges Road intersection began in late October and was finished just before Christmas, well before the anticipated completion date of mid-2013.
Member for Gembrook Brad Battin said the project included minor road widening and line marking, as well as the introduction of a pedestrian refuge, new lighting and footpaths.
“This project will improve pedestrian safety, encourage lower speeds through the township and make turning left on to Beaconsfield-Emerald Road from Salisbury Road easier for motorists,” Mr Battin said.
“I have received a lot of positive feedback from the community so far – it is great to see the works completed before schedule and making a positive impact in Upper Beaconsfield.
Parliamentary Secretary for Roads Edward O’Donohue thanked residents for their patience throughout the works.
“It is great to see this project completed after the extensive community consultation undertaken by VicRoads and the Member for Gembrook,” Mr O’Donohue said.
