FAST FACTS: LABOR’S DECEIT ON $12 BILLION HEALTH FUNDING

Date

Today Daniel Andrews and Labor have claimed that there will be a $12 billion health funding boost in Victoria.

This is deceitful.

Budget Paper 3, pages 54, 55, 66 and 67 detail that Daniel Andrews and Labor’s $12 billion health claims include:

  • $1.3 billion already spent on PPE and COVID pathways programs, jointly funded with the Commonwealth Government;
  • More than $1 billion already spent on Rapid antigen tests, which is also jointly funded with the Commonwealth Government;
  • $466.5 million already spent on a COVID-19 transitional operating model, which is also jointly funded with the Commonwealth Government;
  • $257.9 million already spent on COVID vaccinations, which is also jointly funded with the Commonwealth Government;
  • $353 million already spent on meeting demand for hospital services, which is also jointly funded with the Commonwealth Government;
  • An unfunded $1 billion promise to build Melton Hospital, despite not one dollar actually dedicated to the project; and,
  • An unfunded $500 million promise to build the Barwon Women’s and Children’s Hospital, despite not one dollar actually dedicated to the project.

Overall, the Andrews Government have deceitfully included more than $3.5 billion of health funding already spent in 2021-22 and more than $1.5 billion in unfunded promises to their $12 billion health claims today.
