The Andrews Labor Government’s ongoing mismanagement has been exposed in a wage theft bungle that’s fleeced award payments from hundreds of state-run prison workers for years.
Workers were underpaid from 2015 to 2021, including one who was underpaid at least $9,500.
Shadow Minister for Corrections Brad Battin said the underpayments were shameful.
“It’s a disgrace the government can’t pay its employees the money they’ve worked hard to earn.
“This is yet another example of the Andrews Labor Government’s mismanagement of the state’s public institutions.
“If this were a private company underpaying its workers, the Andrews Labor Government would be demanding prosecutions.
“If the government can’t even pay its workers, it’s hardly a vote of confidence in how they run the state.”
