Daniel Andrews’ phrase in Opposition was ‘In an emergency, every second counts’, and now we see two deaths due to five minute delays in just answering the phone.
Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) workers are under increasing pressure due to the Andrews Labor Government’s failure to prepare for the increase in COVID-19 cases in Victoria.
Daniel Andrews now wants to do an investigation into what went wrong. ESTA staff don’t need an investigation, they needed a plan 18 months ago from the Labor Government to prepare for an increase in calls as COVID-19 cases increase.
The Andrews Labor Government were aware this pandemic wasn’t finished, but has failed to prepare our health system, ambulance network and now we see they have failed to prepare for your first contact when you need help – Triple-0.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Emergency Services, Brad Battin:
“A failure to plan is a plan to fail, and due to the Andrews Labor Government’s failure to prepare Triple-0, people are dying.
“We don’t need an investigation at this time, Victorians need a guarantee their calls will be answered when they need emergency assistance.”
